Summary: | The effects of 24 hours of exposure to 2 mu g/l cadmium followed by up to five days of depuration on social interactions of rainbow trout was investigated. Results showed that ability to compete with unexposed fish was impaired through the third depuration day, but was normal after five days of depuration. Cadmium exposed fish formed hierarchies of dominance and grew more rapidly than controls. Uptake of cadmium in the gill was greater in dominant fish than in fish of lower social status. |
