Summary: | The influence of aluminum oxide and magnesium oxide coatings on the electrical properties of lithium cobalt oxide cathode material and on safety characteristics of lithium ion cells was studied. Performance benefits were realized from the use of both coatings, and were more pronounced with the use of aluminum oxide.
