Summary: | The field performance of a biomass-fueled gasifier-based silk dyeing oven in India is reported. The gasifier system was designed to meet the heat requirement of a silk dyeing factory, and operating data for 18 systems installed in the field are analyzed. Operating together, the 18 systems are estimated to have displaced 313 tons l of diesel oil. The technical feasibility of the equipment was demonstrated, as were the economic merits of replacing a conventional petroleum-based oven with a biomass-fired system. |
