Description
Summary:Discusses the book 'Leopoldo Méndez: Revolutionary Art and The Mexican Print' (University of Texas Press, Austin, 2007) by Deborah Caplow. The author explains how the book deals with the life and work of the Mexican artist Leopoldo Méndez (1902-1969) primarily recognised for his graphic work. She describes how the book is organised and the coverage of each chapter, considers issues which are not covered or addressed by Caplow, and comments on her limited discussion, in particular relating to the artistic groups LEAR and the TGP. She notes the lack of attention to the artist's relationship with graphic artist Pablo O'Higgins, notes the author's comments on political issues and groups in Mexico are largely superficial, and concludes the book is useful for the history of Mexican graphic art.
