[...]the p-type doping issues of unalloyed ZnO (associated with native donor defect compensation and insufficient acceptor concentrations) are significantly reduced in (Mg)ZnO because of the higher activation energy of the donor state and the increase in zinc vacancy acceptor density with Mg content.
