Organic Carbon and Elemental Carbon in Asia: A Review from 1996 to 206
Organic carbon (OC) and elemental carbon (EC) emission characteristics, sources, sampling methods in China, Korea, Japan and Taiwan are elucidated. Summary: | Organic carbon (OC) and elemental carbon (EC) emission characteristics, sources, sampling methods in China, Korea, Japan and Taiwan are elucidated. The highest OC concentration of PM sub(10), 32.51 mu g m super(-3) is in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, at mixed suburban, highway and industrial area sampling sites. The analytical methods for measuring OC and EC concentrations in Asian cities are TOR, thermal manganese dioxide oxidation (TMO), elemental analyzer (EA) and combustion methods. All experimental results demonstrate low correlation analysis methods for Asia cities. As the relationship between OC and EC concentrations for both coarse and fine particulates is good, most OC measured at Seoul is likely emitted from primary anthropogenic sources along with EC. |
