Description
Summary:The influence of ATP on the activity of membrane-bound chitin synthase of the yeast Saccharomyces carlsbergensis was studied. The stimulating effect of ATP on the yeast chitin synthase activity is not associated with covalent modification of the enzyme but is caused by conformational changes as a result of the interaction of ATP with a special binding site on the surface either of the enzyme itself or of a membrane component influencing the chitin synthase activity.
