Summary: | The respiratory quinone composition of the sporoactinomycete Glycomyces rutgersensis was investigated using chromatographic and physicochemical techniques. The major quinones corresponded to unsaturated, dihydrogenated and tetrahydrogenated menaquinones with 10 and 11 isoprene units. Mass spectral (MS) and proton nuclear magnetic resonance (1H‐NMR) analyses demonstrated the position of saturation of the dihydro and tetrahydro side‐chains was units II and II plus III (counting from the ring system), respectively. |
