Summary: | A new design has been developed for composite rollers so as to eliminate azimuthal and axial displacement of the wrapper relative to the shaft, reduce the tensile stress in the wrapper, and increase roller life. Reliable attachment is ensured by a specially designed mechanical link between the shaft and wrapper. The proposed approach is expedient in the manufacture and repair of supporting rollers in hot- and cold-rolling mills, large working rollers for hot-rolling mills, rollers in roller conveyers and secondary cooling lines for continuous-casting machines. Wear-resistant wrappers significantly improve roller performance and also roller life in extreme situations. |
