Summary:In a companion paper (Electr. Power Syst. Res., 19 (1990) 207 - 212) performance indices for ranking of contingencies causing generator reactive power violations as well as the selection of real power (MV) injection contingencies adversely affecting transmission line flows were described. The aim of this paper is to improve on the development of the performance index for generator reactive power violations by including the prioritizing of these generators causing limit violations in the overall algorithm. Tests were carried out using the IEEE 24-bus network to compare the behaviour of this and improved indices.
