Description
Summary:The use of the two-microphone sound intensity technique for in situ measurements of the normal and random incidence transmission losses of different fuselage wall panels of a Piper Cherokee light aircraft was evaluated. Comparison between the measured transmission loss and theoretical mass law predictions suggests that the two-microphone sound intensity technique can be used to estimate accurately the sound intensity transmitted through different sections of the fuselage. The experimental studies also show that it is possible to make sound intensity measurements with good accuracy using either one of the two types of instrumentation available: the dual channel FFT-analyzer or the real-time sound intensity analyzer.
