Summary:A discussion of the germane descriptions of open circuit voltage, photon absorption and emission rate, joint density of states, generation and recombination, and solar photovoltaic cell operation is presented in order to explain and demonstrate why the hypothetical quantum coherent solar photovoltaic cell discussed in this article does not offer improvement in efficiency beyond the detailed balance limit.
