Summary:This article describes the author’s sensory story project, which she set up last year to provide an affordable and self-resourcing method of helping people with severe or profound and multiple learning disabilities develop communication skills. The project was based on the author’s research and experiences of working with students with special needs, and was funded through a website designed to put people with creative ideas in contact with those willing to back them. The article also outlines the outcomes of the project and the author’s plans for it in the future.
