Highlights • Tilapia alpha-helical antimicrobial peptides are able to boost immune response in mammals and fish. • These antimicrobial peptides induced a TH 1 humoral immune response characterized by the induction of interferon-γ. • Their use as molecular adjuvant to subunit antigens is a real promise for human and veterinary vaccine.
