Summary: | This work describes the isolation and characterization of four flavonoids from the methanolic extract of the flowers of Combretum lanceolatum. Their structures were elucidated on the basis of various spectroscopic methods (UV, IV and NMR, including 2D experiments) and identified as dillenetin (1), isorhamnetin (2), quercetin (3) and 3-O-methyl quercetin (4). Compounds (1), (2) and (4) were isolated from Combretum genus for the first time.
•Flavonoids dillenetin (1), isorhamnetin (2), quercetin (3) and 3-O-methyl quercetin (4) were isolated for the first time from Combretum lanceolatum Pohl.•Compounds (1), (2) and (4) were described for the first time in Combretum genus.•Dillenetin (1) is a rare flavonoid and its isolation from Combretum genus is reported for the first time herein. |
