Description
Summary:In this work, the effects of the plasma inhomogeneity and weakly relativistic ponderomotive force due to intense laser radiation on the density profile steepening and dielectric permittivity of plasma are studied in collisionless and collisional regimes. The nonlinear wave equation in the plasma is numerically solved and the electromagnetic field profiles, electron density distribution, and dielectric permittivity variations are achieved in two aforementioned regimes. It is shown that the density profile steepening depends significantly on the laser energy flux and its structure near the critical density becomes highly peaked. The electron temperature distribution in collisional regime is also obtained.
