Description
Summary:The extent of pollution of the river Savinja, Slovenia was evaluated with the aid of the macrophyte species composition using statistical methods. The results indicate that mosses are particularly useful for a quick evaluation of river conditions. The influence of individual ions is demonstrated particularly in their synergistic action with other pollutants. Fisidens crassipes and two species of the genus Bryum appear only in the lower, much polluted part of the river.
