Description
Summary:The polarization state of light in the nematic liquid crystal with the applied magnetic field is analyzed. Using the dielectric tensor, we study the correlation of Ex and Ey, and analyse the different polarization station of light in liquid crystal with applied different magnetic strength. The theoretically calculated results show that a beam of inclined elliptically polarized light can propagate when B is small, the elliptically polarized light can transmit in this liquid crystal when the magnetic field strength is very large. For liquid crystal with ɛy=ɛx, the left-hand and right-hand circular polarized light passes through this liquid crystal with the applied magnetic field. Especially, it was found that the wave can stop in the liquid crystal when the magnetic field strength arrives at the decided value.
