Characterization of the Escherichia coli chlC regulatory region in a cloned chlC‐lac gene fusion

Summary: | Since the immediate product of the chlC gene has no known enzymatically assayable activity (in the absence of required cofactors), the authors have used a chlc-lacZ gene fusion to study the specific regulation of the chlC gene and have observed that it is under the same control as that which regulates the synthesis of nitrate reductase. To facilitate studies on the nature of anaerobic regulation of gene expression at the DNA nucleotide level the authors have cloned the chlC-lacZ gene fusion initially into phage and then into plasmid pBR322. |
