Wave Characteristics in the Western and Northwestern Bay of Bengal During the Southwest Monsoon of 1978
Wave data are analyzed for significant wave height (H sub(s)), R.M.S. wave height (H sub(rms)), maximum wave height (H sub(max)), zero-crossing period (T sub(z)), average period (T sub(c)) and spectral width parameter (E). A scatter diagram relating H sub(s) and T sub(z) is also presented. The range...

Summary: | Wave data are analyzed for significant wave height (H sub(s)), R.M.S. wave height (H sub(rms)), maximum wave height (H sub(max)), zero-crossing period (T sub(z)), average period (T sub(c)) and spectral width parameter (E). A scatter diagram relating H sub(s) and T sub(z) is also presented. The range of H sub(s) is wide varying within 30 and 220 cm while T sub(z) is confined to 6 to 15.5 sec, with a maximum occurrence between 6.5 and 8 sec. The percentage occurrence of E indicates that T sub(z) has exceeded T sub(c) in most of the cases. |
