S-100a sub(0) protein stimulates Ca super(2+)-induced Ca super(2+) release from isolated sarcoplasmic reticulum vesicles
S-100a sub(0) protein, the alpha alpha -isoform of the S-100 family, stimulates Ca super(2+)-induced Ca super(2+) release from terminal cisternae isolated from rat skeletal muscle cells. The stimulatory effect of S-100a sub(0) is maximal at similar to 5 mu M S-100a sub(0). The effect of the protein...

Summary: | S-100a sub(0) protein, the alpha alpha -isoform of the S-100 family, stimulates Ca super(2+)-induced Ca super(2+) release from terminal cisternae isolated from rat skeletal muscle cells. The stimulatory effect of S-100a sub(0) is maximal at similar to 5 mu M S-100a sub(0). The effect of the protein on Ca super(2+)-induced Ca super(2+) release is completely inhibited by the calcium release blocker, ruthenium red. |
