Description
Summary:The bioaccumulation of three major classes of insecticides (organochlorine, organophosphate, and pyrethroid) have been investigated in yeast. The yeast accumulated low to high amounts of insecticides depending on the type of insecticide, exposure period, growth phase, and metabolic state of the organisms. Of the pesticides studied, dieldrin was the most rapidly accumulated with a maximum of 602.5 mu g/g dry weight after 2 hr at 1 ppm.
