Summary: | A volume-based compatible taper/volume estimation system was constructed for
Pinus patula growing in Sao Hill, Southern Tanzania. The system operates on a microcomputer program in BASIC language, and gives saw log volume, pulp log volume, total volume and waste volume for a wide range of tree
DBH, total height, and top diameter and length limits of saw logs and pulp logs. The system is more efficient than existing volume estimation procedures and is recommended for Sao Hill where information on size assortment will assist in planning the plantations and the sawmill and pulpmill log deliveries. |
