Summary:The structure of a multilayer metal material produced from a composite blank based on sheets of the 08Kh18 and 08Kh18N10 steels by hot pack rolling has been studied using optical microscopy, as well as scanning and transmission electron microscopy. It has been found that two processing cycles are completed in the formation of a laminated structure that is characterized by structural and chemical inhomogeneities due to diffusion and relaxation processes. It has been shown that, during pack rolling, an ultradispersed structure is formed, which is a mixture of ferrite layers elongated in the direction of rolling and of packet martensite layers or layers of carbide-free bainite that has a subgrain structure.
