Description
Summary:In this paper, the spectral sensitivities of individual photoreceptor cells in the stemmata of the noctuid moth Mamestra brassicae were studied and compared with the spectral properties of anatomically corresponding photoreceptor cells in the stemmata of Papilio . Since it was realized that interspecific differences do occur, affecting at least one corresponding pair of cells, the examination was extended to include the bombycid moth Bombyx mori and the pierid butterfly Pieris rapae icrucivora .
