Highlights • Emulsigen-D (ED)-adjuvanted FMD vaccine appeared to produce excellent initial neutralizing antibody responses in pigs. • The mixture of ED + aluminum hydroxide gel (AL) or ISA 201 produced rapid humoral antibody responses in tested animals. • Antibody titers and protection rate produced by a mixture of ED + AL were higher than those of ISA 206. • The mixture of ED + AL showed immunity-enhancing effects comparable to the adjuvant effects of ISA 201.
