Description
Summary:The objective of this study is to investigate whether HIV-infected patients using tenofovir-based regimen are at increased risk of tubular dysfunction. We conducted an observational, comparative, longitudinal, prospective study, in HIV treatment-naive infected patients who had indication to start treatment. Regarding backbone, we started with tenofovir/emtricitabine or abacavir/lamivudine. Tubular dysfunction is common in HIVinfected patients on antiretroviral therapy, TDF-based regimen is associated with decrease in eGFR and tubular dysfunction but it was not statistically significant. Patients on antiretroviral therapy require complete and periodical renal function assessment.
