Summary:Production of toxins of isoquinoline type (pyrenoline A and pyrenoline B) by Pyrenophora teres Drechs. in modified M.1.D liquid medium has been studied during 25 days for one f. maculata and six f. teres isolates, all of Moroccan origin. Isoquinolines concentration in culture medium varied in time following a repetitive cycle of production and degradation. However, pyrenoline B was always produced in large quantities compared to pyrenoline A. Biosynthesis processes of the two toxins seemed to interfere with each other, but the fluctuation of culture medium pH is not correlated with the cyclic variation of the isoquinolines in the fungus culture.
