Summary:In the industrial workplaces, manual materials handling is a necessity for the workers. However, improper materials handling technique can contribute to occupational injuries. The objective of this paper is to provide information on ergonomics risk factors and health effects associated with manual materials handling. Ergonomics risk factors include awkward posture, excessive load, and extreme temperature has been identified as main contributors to poor occupational health in manual materials handling activities.
