Summary: | We present here a simple procedure for the determination of mercury(II) using differential pulse anodic stripping voltammetry (DPASV) at palladium particles‐impregnated natural phosphate modified carbon paste electrodes (Pd‐NP‐CPE). The surface of modified electrode was characterized using SEM, infrared spectroscopy, X‐ray diffraction and electrochemical analysis. All experimental variables involved in the voltammetric stripping method were optimized. The detection limit was found to be 4.99×10−8 mol L−1 (S/N=3) that is not different to the permitted value for Hg(II) in water reported by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The proposed electrode exhibits good applicability for monitoring Hg(II) in tap and wastewater. |
