Summary: | Environmental monitoring plays an essential role in the evaluation and management of anthropogenic chemicals, which often have a tendency to accumulate in food-chains. Birds of prey, representing the top levels of food-chains, are considered to be among the best indicators of mercury. Among these avian carnivores the White-tailed Eagle (Haliaetus albicilla ) seems to be a very interesting species as it mainly feeds on fish. |
