Summary: | A nonlinear hydrodynamic numerical model was applied to Bombay harbour waters subjected to tidal forcing at the mouth of the harbour. Buildup of water level and associated current pattern of the circulation were studied. Modification of flow-field due to presence of Elephanta Island in the harbour was studied by excluding and including the Island in the computational grid for a typical tidal cycle. The study demonstrated the utility of numerical modelling techniques in estimating tidal dynamics of semi-enclosed water bodies. |
