Summary:An estuarine survey was conducted between May 1985 and Apr 1987 to determine the occurrence of ulcerative lesions on finfishes in the Tar-Pamlico River Estuary, North Carolina. Thirty-one species of estuarine fish were collected in pound nets. Atlantic menhaden Brevoortia tyrannus represented > 90% of the total catch. Forty-four species were collected in trawls. Spot, Leiostomus xanthurus , Atlantic croaker, Micropogonias undulatus , and Atlantic menhaden were the most frequently collected species. Menhaden was the predominant species affected with ulcerative lesions in both the pound net and trawl samples.
