Description
Summary:Three kinds of membrane filters: a bisphenol polycarbonate isopore filter, a mixed cellulose ester MF filter and a polytetrafluoroethylene fluoropore filter, were studied using monodispersed aerosol. The collection efficiency of the filters was measured in terms of face velocity and pressure changes across filters and particle concentrations downstream and upstream of the filters. Pressure drop across filters increased with increasing face velocity and decreasing pore size, while the most penetrating size decreased with increasing flow velocity. The MF filter was found to have the highest collection efficiency and the highest flow rate, making it most suitable for radioactive aerosol analysis.
