Influence of light and temperature on the growth of four algae from a eutrophic lake (Aydat lake, Puy de Dome, France)
Single strain, non axenic cultures of Fragilaria crotonensis, Anabaena macrospora, Staurastrum pingue and Coelastrum cambricum were used to study the interdependence between light (at intensities of between 5 and 800 uE per m2.second under a 15/9 photoperiod) and temperature (10, 15, 20, 25, 30 and...

Summary: | Single strain, non axenic cultures of Fragilaria crotonensis, Anabaena macrospora, Staurastrum pingue and Coelastrum cambricum were used to study the interdependence between light (at intensities of between 5 and 800 uE per m2.second under a 15/9 photoperiod) and temperature (10, 15, 20, 25, 30 and 35C) in batches and in non nutrient-limited conditions. Maximal growth rates for the 4 species were 0.57, 0.63, 0.77 and 1.4 per d, respectively, at temperatures of 25, 25, 27 and 35C and light intensities of 150, 170, 270 and 290 uE per m2.second. Results were adjusted by a model. |
