Mutagenic activity of organic concentrates from municipal river water and sewage effluent after chlorination or ozonation
Seasonal variations in the mutagenic activity of samples of water from the Yodo river, Japan, (which was very polluted, but was an important source of water supply), and of sewage works effluent discharged to the river, were measured before and after chlorination or ozonation of the samples. Summary: | Seasonal variations in the mutagenic activity of samples of water from the Yodo river, Japan, (which was very polluted, but was an important source of water supply), and of sewage works effluent discharged to the river, were measured before and after chlorination or ozonation of the samples. The results showed that ozonation was more effective than chlorination in reducing the mutagenic activity of the river water. |
