Description
Summary:The description of a new species of retroplumid crab, Costacopluma salamanca from the Danian Salamanca Formation, southern Argentina, represents the eighth species referred to that genus and extends the geographic range of the taxon into Patagonia. Cladistic analysis of the genus suggests that three groups of species can be identified based upon their geographic position; Afro-Asian, North American, and South American.
