Description
Summary:The peripheral origins of vibration-sensitive VIIIth nerve fibers in European grassfrogs (Rana temporaria ) were investigated by recording from individual nerve branchlets within the inner ear. Vibration-sensitive fibers were found in both the anterior and posterior branch of the VIIIth nerve. No vibration-sensitive fibers were found in the lagenar nerve. The grassfrog has at least two, and probably three, vibration-sensitive organs in the inner ear.
