Description
Summary:Major advances in our understanding of inflammation and immunomodulation at both the biological and molecular level have opened up multiple opportunities for therapeutic intervention. Some of the more established of these approaches have now been validated clinically, but there is still a long way to go before the mainstay treatments such as steroids and the nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs have significant competition. This review attempts to summarize some of the ongoing activities in this area, while recognizing that a truly comprehensive insight into many exciting research activities is not possible.
