Summary: | A laboratory experiment was set up to examine the ability of porous asphalt to retain metallic pollution. The results obtained confirm the retention of metals (Pb, Cu, Cd, Zn) by clogging particles, and a decrease in lead concentration can be observed in infiltrated runoff water. Moreover, the simulation of heavy metal transfer into the soil was carried out using the mathematical model LEACHM. The increase of Pb, Cu and Zn contents in soil appears slight after SO years and well below regulation threshold values. The increase of Cd content is relatively more important. For infiltrated water, the results show a pollutant migration, especially for Cd, down to 30 cm. Nevertheless, the risk of groundwater pollution appears low. |
