Summary: | Non-enzymatic electrochemical study of cholesterol on conventional platinum electrode was carried out in acetonitrile solutions in the presence of potassium bromide by means of cyclic voltammetry and differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) techniques. The detection limit of platinum electrode towards indirect oxidation of cholesterol (0.10 μM) determined by means of DPV in the concentration range of 0.032-0.143 mM appears to be significantly better compared to those estimated by means of other methods utilising cholesterol oxidase. The findings are very promising and clearly demonstrate that the indirect method used in the present work is quite suitable for the analysis of cholesterol in organic solvent media. |
