Description
Summary:The objective this study was estimate the runoff and groundwater rate recharge in a preserved small catchment in semiarid region of Brazil. The area of study was the Experimental Basin of Aiuaba, in the Federal State of Ceará. In the simulation of groundwater recharge, the BALSEQ model was used. The scenarios were simulated: i) preserve natural conditions and ii) an increase of 6% per year in the agricultural activities. From this research observed that the conservation management becomes important in the maintenance of groundwater and availability of water for dry periods, favoring the development of agricultural crops. Concluded that the use and occupation of land for agricultural purposes increases the runoff. In contrast, annual groundwater recharges decrease
