Summary:To expand the area under irrigation is essential to improve the quality of the technique. The irrigator must know irrigate and it needs to receive appropriate information. In Brazil, a pioneer project have been developed in Baixo Acaraú Irrigation District, Ceará. It is the Irrigator Advisory Service - SAI. Consists in to transfer the information to the farmer, by SMS, email and web site. After registration was completed, a software performs the calculations required for sending information daily when, how much and how irrigate and provides a social network between management and the district irrigators. This study aimed to evaluate the use of the initial of the Irrigation Time (IT) in the DIBAU. We sought to determine the operating system, the sending and reception of information. It was concluded that the system should be used as an important tool for water management in irrigated areas, but the capacitation of farmers it is fundamental.
