Chronic lymphocytic leukaemia cells become both activated and immunosuppressive following interaction with CD3 and CD28 stimulated PBMC

Highlights • CLL cells become activated by co-culture with CD3/CD28 stimulated healthy PBMC. • The activated CLL can subsequently suppress the proliferative responses of T-cells. • Suppression requires cell contact but does not involve induction of T-cell apoptosis.
