Summary: | Insect fauna populations in bovine dung reached seasonal peaks in the first week of July at the University of Nebraska Field Laboratory, Mead, Nebraska. A total of 24,145 adult insects were collected at three sites. The highest average number of insects was collected at 72 hr after dung deposition. Coleoptera comprised 83.1% of the total adult insects collected. Four families comprised 93.4% of the Coleoptera. Face fly parasitism averaged only 4.1%. |
