High prevalence of carbapenem resistance among plasmid-mediated AmpC β-lactamase-producing Klebsiella pneumoniae during outbreaks in liver transplantation units

Highlights • Outbreaks due to DHA-1-or CMY-2-producing K. pneumoniae strains occurred. • Carbamenem resistant variants with porin loss were frequently found. • Outbreak strains caused bloodstream infections with high mortality.
