Summary: | The macrophage like cell line J774 was used to measure relaxation and intracellular viscosity with ferrimagnetic monodisperse magnetite particles between 0,8 mu m and 2,45 mu m diameter and with polydisperse magnetite dust. Phagocytosis of all particles was above 60%. With increasing particle diameter d relaxation slowed down. The time constants of a double exponentially decaying relaxation model increased with d super(1,9). Intracellular viscosity was non-Newtonian and showed a decrease with increasing shear rate sr as sr super(-0,86). |
