Summary:The expansion of the afromontane forest community in Orange Kloof, Table Mountain, between 1933 and 1990 was measured using aerial photography. The study area is unique because it has been protected from fire since 1933, allowing forest to expand into the adjacent Cape fynbos communities. The area of forest has doubled after 55 years of fire protection.
