Redox equilibrium of the UO super(2+) sub(2)/UO super(+) sub(2) couple in Li sub(2)MoO sub(4)-Na sub( 2)MoO sub(4) eutectic melt at 550 [degrees]C

The redox equilibrium of UO super(2+) sub(2)/UO sub(2) couple was measured in Li sub(2)MoO sub(4)-Na sub( 2)MoO sub(4) eutectic melt at 550 [degrees]C by cyclic voltammetry and absorption spectrophotometry. The standard redox potential of UO super(2+) sub(2)/UO super(+) sub(2) couple was approximate...

Description
Summary:The redox equilibrium of UO super(2+) sub(2)/UO sub(2) couple was measured in Li sub(2)MoO sub(4)-Na sub( 2)MoO sub(4) eutectic melt at 550 [degrees]C by cyclic voltammetry and absorption spectrophotometry. The standard redox potential of UO super(2+) sub(2)/UO super(+) sub(2) couple was approximately evaluated by cyclic voltammetry. Further, the absorption spectrum and equilibrium potential were measured, repeatedly adding UO super(2+) sub(2) source material into the melt containing UO super(+) sub(2). From the correlation between the equilibrium potential of the melt and the concentration ratio [UO super(2+) sub(2)]/[UO super(+) sub(2)] spectrophotometrically evaluated, the standard redox potential of UO super(2+) sub(2)/UO super(+) sub(2) couple was determined to be -0.847 + or - 0.010 V vs. O sub(2)/O super(2-).
