Summary: | Mated female rats were treated with sodium dimethylarsinate or disodium methanearsonate, and developmental effects in offspring were examined. Results showed that both arsenic metabolites induced prenatal mortality and malformations in the developing offspring following ip maternal treatment on single gestation days. Skeletal and neural tube defects were induced in offspring, but only at doses that were in or near the maternally toxic range. |
